One of the reasons that people become interested in Internet marketing is because they view it as an easily automated opportunity. It seems too easy to set up a website that people can visit in order to buy products, do all you can to attract business to your site, and just sit back and wait on the money to start rolling in. This view would make it seem like there is not much recurring effort that needs to be put in. This could be the reason a lot of these internet marketers are doing a less than acceptable job at customer service. In reality, you will find that your customers demand good customer service whether you run a traditional brick-and-mortar business or an online one. Here are a few ways that you can ensure that you always give the best customer service to your clients when Internet marketing.
If you are in a service oriented business, keep track of your clients. Invest in some customer management software or create your own database. You want to keep track of the first and last names of your clients so that you are always able to address them appropriately. When you use people’s names to address them in your emails, it will make you seem more personable to them. Simply saying, “Hey there” isn’t going to cut it.
Offer a giveaway to the people on your list. This will remind customers to reach out to you. You don’t have to give something to each person who then contacts you. Make it into a contest. There’s nothing more fun that winning something. Offer one of your products for free to a random response chosen from those who answer a question you send out. You could use the question to get business feedback, or you could simply ask a trivia question. Regardless of the type of question you ask, be prepared to receive lots of responses. You could even find some correspondence from someone who isn’t even on your list.
Another important aspect of customer service is offering your customers an easy way to reach you for questions or support. If you want people to purchase something from you and return to your site, you should definitely provide contact information. Sellers who do not have a point of contact look like scammers. You want to provide as much personal service as your customers want. This means allowing them to contact you. This does mean a little more effort on your part, but if it means more sales, isn’t it worth it? Providing a certain amount of personal service is necessary if you want more customers.
There is nothing complex about delivering good customer service. If you are doing it correctly, it should not take much repeated effort and it will become second nature. You can probably offer great customer service by spending five to ten minutes each day to make sure each of your clients get what they deserve. These few minutes that you devote to the process will return to you in the form of thousands in repeat sales! When you realize that there is very little involved in offering your customers a great buying experience, you have to ask yourself why you haven’t begun already? What could you possibly lose?
